                                                For Clients

Client needs may be complex, but a few core principles form the foundation of a successful recruiter–client partnership.

A preparatory meeting plays a vital role in shaping a recruiter’s understanding of the position and the broader context surrounding the hire. It allows for the construction of a compelling narrative that not only aligns with the client’s expectations but also anticipates the kinds of questions candidates are likely to ask. For sales roles, this includes clarifying the company’s revenue model, target customer segments, and sales strategy, as well as outlining the available technical support, reporting structure, and compensation framework. These insights help the recruiter present the opportunity in a way that resonates with high-performing sales professionals. Engineering roles, while equally critical, require a different lens—one that focuses on specific technical competencies, relevant industry experience, and the tools or platforms the candidate will be expected to work with. By tailoring the conversation to the nature of the role, the recruiter is better equipped to identify candidates who not only meet the job requirements but also align with the company’s culture and long-term goals.

Once the search is underway, candidates must be quickly identified, qualified, and introduced. Interviews and feedback should be efficiently managed, followed by offer negotiation, reference checks if required, and expectation setting. The final step involves guiding the candidate through resignation and transition—ensuring a smooth start on day one.

The first step in working with candidates is to establish a supportive and open business relationship based on trust and mutual understanding. For the first time, a coffee shop meeting, a video conference or a telephone call is the best way to do this.

The candidate can explain their situation and what he or she wants next in their career. For a role already introduced by a mail, I can determine suitability, and answer any questions and explain all aspects concerning the job and the client. Full support is then provided for developing a resume and overseeing the introduction and interview process, right through to offer, signing, resignation and joining. I will always be there to answer any questions and manage the process in a timely and professional manner.

The decision to enter the Japanese market can be easy to make, but it’s more difficult to find somebody to help with answering basic questions and giving fast advice to get it done quickly.

Intech Japan founder, James Barratt, has years of experience helping startups get started here.

I can provide costing for the first full year, with salary including obligatory social and health benefits, the recruiting fee and office setup, if needed. Is it necessary to establish a corporate presence in Japan? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Other topics I advise on include labor law, the contrasting citizen and corporate social and health insurance systems, compensation structures and expectations, candidate expectations and fears about working for foreign companies, cultural nuances and other useful information.

While I was Asia Sales Director and GM of our Japan branch in Teledyne e2v, we decided to expand our professional imaging operation in Japan. I asked James at Intech Japan to help me on this task. James showed a wide connection and good knowledge with the talent that we were looking for. All searches went smoothly with James’ professional service. We were finally able to hire two Business Development Managers and one Office Administrator. With those new hires’ contributions, Teledyne e2v was able to grow average revenue 35% from 2015 to 2018. James is a result driven person and we could see the result from our business outcome. I do highly recommend James to anyone who would like to expand their business in Japan – a fast lane to business success.

I am the President of a NASDAQ listed public technology company that specializes in semiconductor and software applications for the PC and Mobile Phone Market. In my position I am responsible for sourcing Marketing, Sales and technical applications engineers in locations throughout the world. Several years ago we decided to elevate our presence and team in Japan. After evaluating several agencies we chose Intech and James Barratt as our recruiter for the Japan market. Over these last several years I have been very pleased and impressed with the quantity and quality of candidates we have gotten from James. As a result of his efforts in Japan we have placed a Country Manager/President of our Japan subsidiary, a technical Sales Engineer and recently a field applications engineer. As a region, Japan can be a challenging geography to effectively staff. Through James’ local knowledge, contacts and ability to help us navigate through the process we have been very successful in finding very good people for our key positions. I would highly recommend James Barratt for your staffing needs.

I asked James at Intech Japan to help our ten-employee office find a FAE who could focus on our new wireless product range. He met with me and he quickly showed a deep knowledge of the semiconductor industry in Japan and learnt what our needs were. We soon had a number of good candidates, who we interviewed and then made an offer to the one. However, the candidate took an offer from another company, and I asked James to start again. He did straight away – James soon had another excellent candidate, and in the end, we found an engineer who not only could handle our complex wireless products, but knew many other products as well, which was a great bonus. He skillfully negotiated the offer stage and we got an excellent new employee. I was very happy with James’s work and we hope to work with Intech Japan again in the future. Highly recommended.Makoto Kobayashi, Country Manager and Japan President, analog mixed signal vendor, Realk
